About the series

Inaugural Melges 24 European Sailing Series, established by the International Melges 24 Class Association (IM24CA),  was held in 2013.

The series was launched with the aim to run the international regattas around Europe attracting the venues to host the events and to give a boost to the local fleets. Riccardo Simoneschi, IM24CA Chairman of those times said, that the European Sailing Series has given the possibility to sail only at high level on the best race courses of the continent with highly skilled race committees, great locations and facilities like never before for a continental circuit.

The winner of the Melges 24 European Sailing Series in Overall ranking will be awarded the right to hold the Melges 24 European Sailing Series perpetual trophy until the conclusion of the following year’s European Sailing Series. This perpetual trophy has been donated to the series by the former Chairman of IM24CA, Riccardo Simoneschi (2011-2014) and it's been awarded since 2013, when the series was established by IM24CA.

The winner of the Melges 24 European Sailing Series in Corinthian division will be awarded the right to hold the Melges 24 European Sailing Series Corinthian division perpetual trophy until the conclusion of the following year’s European Sailing Series. This Trophy was presented in 2014.

2013 ranking results

The Melges 24 European Sailing Series was established by the International Melges 24 Class Association in 2013 when the International Melges 24 fleet enjoyed a spectacular inaugural season. The series opened on Lake Balaton (Hungary) in May and featured five regattas including Kiel Week (Germany), Torbole Melges 24 Week on Lake Garda (Italy), the Magic Marine Melges 24 European Championship in Medemblik (the Netherlands) and the final regatta in Hanko (Norway).

A total of 119 teams from 15 nations took part in the inaugural series in 2013 which has proven hugely popular and has helped to consolidate the Melges 24 international program and make it easier for competitors to plan their seasons.
