Storm Capital Wins 2026 Melges 24 Nordic Championship at Hankø Race Week

30 June 2026 – Hankø, Norway – The Melges 24 fleet enjoyed another outstanding championship as Hankø Race Week hosted the 2026 Melges 24 Nordic Championship, bringing together 25 teams from Norway, Denmark and Sweden for three days of excellent racing in classic Hankø conditions.

Hosted by Kongelig Norsk Seilforening from June 24 to 28, the championship formed another important stop on the 2026 Melges 24 calendar, with the fleet enjoying everything from light and tactical racing to the fresh sea breeze that has made Hankø one of Scandinavia’s favourite sailing venues.

After eight races, it was Storm Capital (NOR 751), helmed by Peder Jahre, that emerged victorious on 21 points. Sailing together with Pål Tønneson, Lillan Agerup, Marius Falch Orvin and Sivert Denneche, the team combined consistency with excellent speed to claim another major Melges 24 title.

Second place went to Rett Rundt Hjørnet (NOR 732) with Herman Horn-Johannessen, Malin Rørvik-Sundelin, Jan Frederik Dyvi, Jan Borø and Stian Ness Rørvik, finishing on 26 points after a strong final day.

Completing the podium was Helly Hansen II Lisa (NOR 697), with Kristoffer Spone, Christen Horn Johannessen, Børre Hekk Paulsen and Sigurd Hekk Paulsen, scoring 32 points to secure the bronze medals.

The Danish champions Itsi-Bitsi (DEN 701), helmed by Torben Mauritzen together with Michael Hestbaek, Kristian Kvid Sørensen, Maud Kerstholt and Rasmus Nergaard Jacobsen, finished just one point off the podium in fourth place on 33 points, while recently crowned Norwegian champions Blow (NOR 787) with Peder Nergaard, Fabian Spone, Petrus Eide and Morten Helgesen completed the top five on 39 points.

The championship welcomed 25 boats, making it the largest Melges 24 regatta held in Norway this season. In addition to a strong Norwegian fleet, two Danish teams and one Swedish team joined the event, underlining the growing strength of Nordic Melges 24 sailing.

With another successful Nordic Championship completed, attention now turns to the next stop of the 2026 Melges 24 European Sailing Series as the fleet heads south to Riva del Garda, Italy, for the Melges 24 Italian Championship / Trofeo Gaudi on 3–5 July. After the summer series continues across Europe, many of the Nordic contenders will return to Norway for the season’s headline event, the 2026 Melges 24 European Championship, to be hosted by Tonsbgerg Seilforening in Tønsberg from 29 August to 4 September, where Europe’s best teams will battle for the continental title.

The Nordic Championship will return to Denmark in 2027, where a new champion will be crowned.
