Scott Nixon from Quantum Sails is fast building a reputation as a top flight one design tactician. In the last few months of 2008 he called tactics on the winning boats at both the Melges 24 North American Championship and the Melges 32 Gold Cup. Who better then to talk about tactics with?
Kristen Lane is a rare commodity, a female Melges 24 helm. Those who know her say that, irrespective of gender, her background as an accomplished skier along with her fearsome determination and highly competitive nature, make her a perfect candidate to steer a Melges 24 on the US circuit.
At the end of 2008 Reggie Fairchild pulled off a fairly remarkable double, not only was he head of the organising committee for the 2008 US National Championships at Charleston Yacht Club but he also came away from the regatta as the new joint Melges 24 Corinthian US National Champion.
