With an entry list bulging with some of the very best international sportsboat teams in the world, the 2011 Melges 24 World Championship hosted by the Corpus Christi Yacht Club, Texas is set to be one of the most closely fought in the class's history.

The third leg of the Italian Melges 24 Volvo Cup series took place this past weekend at Numana where 29 teams came together for what proved to be a very testing weekend of Melges 24 racing.

At Bacardi Miami Sailing Week International Melges 24 Class Chairman Riccardo Simoneschi took the opportunity to having a significant number of US Melges 24 teams together to call an informal meeting of the class.
