The Sheehy Lexus 2009 Melges 24 World Championship, hosted by the Eastport Yacht Club, attracted fifty-one entries from across Europe and the US, with teams from the USA, Canada, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, France, Britain, the Netherlands, Norway and Ukraine congregating in Annapolis to challenge
The Melges 24 Class is really taking off in Hungary where the Hungarian Melges 24 Class is now running an annual regatta series on Lake Balaton (where the water really is the same turquoise blue that you get off Key West!).
The fifty-one international teams, who had travelled from across North America and Europe to compete in the Sheehy Lexus of Annapolis 2009 Melges 24 World Championships, finally got the welcome opportunity to race in double-digit breezes on the final day of the regatta.
We're all set for a great final day show down here in Annapolis with up to three more races to sail and all to play for at the top of the fleet.
After yet another light and fickle day on the water, the fifty-one boat international fleet competing at the Sheehy Lexus of Annapolis 2009 Melges 24 World Championship, now appear resigned to racing in sub seven knot breezes.
