Register Now! Croatian Melges 24 National Championship, November 18-21

October 26, 2021 - Split, Croatia - The Inaugural Croatian Melges 24 National Championship will take place on November 18-21, 2021, hosted by the Croatian Melges 24 Class Association and Sailing Club Mornar in Split. 

Notice of Race has been published and registration is now open and available at https://www.melges24.com/croatian-melges-24-series-2021-5-croatian-melges-24-national-championship. Teams planning to attend are encouraged to go ahead and register. 

Starting strong in the beginning of the 2021, Croatian Melges 24 class has been growing rapidly having 14 full members by now and IM24CA is very much looking forward to join beautiful venues of Croatia for an international Melges 24 events in the nearest future. 

Croatian Melges 24 Class Association invites Melges 24 teams to join them for the inaugural Croatian Melges 24 National Championship in November, where some of the greatest Croatian sailors have jumped to the Melges 24 boats to compete on one of the best sportsboats ever built! 

Melges 24 class is happy to see several Olympic sailors in Croatian fleet: Šime Fantela on Tutta Forza CRO643, 470 class Gold from Rio 2016 and 2009 World Champion; Tonči Stipanović on Yikes CRO516, two-time Laser class Silver medalist from Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2021; Ivan Kljaković Gašpić on his CRO567, three-time Finn class European Champion (2009, 2010, 2015), Worlds 2014 Silver and 5th in Rio 2106; Enia Ninčević with her father and brother on board Cezibordo CRO517, 49er FX European Silver 2021. 

There will be also Luka Šangulin on his Panjic CRO739, who finished Melges 24 Europeans on 9th place and is the current leader of the Croatian Melges 24 Sailing Series after 3 events sailed. The Croatian Melges 24 President, Filip Jurišić on his Strilica CRO166, who recently won Silver medal at the Laser class Senior Europeans and was on the 7th place in the Laser World ranking in this June.

So – a strong fleet to meet for the international teams joining the event, among of which, according to the organizers, will be Paolo Brescia’s Melgina ITA793, the winner of the Melges 24 European Sailing Series 2021; Michele Paoletti’s Strambapapa ITA689, past Olympic sailor in Soling class, 6th at the 2021 Melges 24 Europeans, ClubSwan 36 World Champion 2021; and Richard Thompson’s Black Seal GBR822 with Stefano Cherin calling tactics, 10th at the 2021 Melges 24 Europeans 2021 and the winner of the final regatta of the 2021 Melges 24 European Sailing Series in Trieste.

Croatian Nationals also marks the ultimate event of the 2021 Melges 24 Croatian Melges 24 Sailing Series, since the penultimate event will take place in Split in upcoming weekend.
