St-Quay Portrieux in northern Britanny played host to the 2002 French Open Nationals this weekend. With 47 entries from France, England, Italy, Belgium and Monaco and a real mix of conditions it was a great event.
What a weekend! Throught out the weekend, excellent sailing conditions(blue sky, temp. over 20 degrees & wind velocity 2 to 6 m/s)at the same place where the Melges 24 2003 European Championships will be held.

In a closely fought seven race regatta Sami Ekblad and his Marinel Mastervolt team took the Swedish National title from Kristoffer Spone aboard Fruen Maren. Erik Arthur and Per Andresen and the crew of Dolly took third with Antti Niiniranta of Marinel Patu in fourth.
This weekend's Grand Prix Du Crouesty produced one of the closest Melges 24 regattas of the year.Twenty two entrants battled it out off the beautiful Brittany coast of France in an exciting event which saw the top twoboats only separated on discard after 6 races.
