The 2010 European Melges 24 season got off to a flying start in Sanremo, Italy last weekend at the opening event of the 2010 Melges 24 Volvo Cup series. With 55 boats from 15 nations competing in the three days regatta it was a sign of great things to come this year.

Andy Burdick shares some of his last minute preparation tips as we look forward to Yachting Key West Race Week. Following are some tips to help you prepare your Melges 24 for a Winter Series or local regatta. This list has been compiled over the years in preparation for big Melges 24 events.

This coming weekend (12-14 March) the ever fabulous Italian Melges 24 Volvo Cup will kick off in Sanremo. With a week still to go to the eventthe race office has already received more than 50 entrieswith 12 nations involved in the first regatta of 2010 circuit - and there is still time to enter!

Melges 24 Owners with hull numbers under 100 should be advised that the pad eyes that are in the keel box used for hooking up the lifting straps and lifting the boat some have failed recently and we want owners to double check their boats.
