Velocitek Putting up $1000 Speed Challenge for Melges 24 Worlds

Velocitek is providing Melges 24 sailors the opportunity to vie for a $1000 prize for the top speed achieved at the 2011 Melges 24 World Championship

The Velocitek Speed Challenge will give Melges 24 sailors the chance to win a $1000 USD prize for the crew that achieves the top speed at the 2011 Melges 24 World Championship hosted by the Corpus Christi Yacht Club in Corpus Christi, Texas.

“We're going to have the world's best sportboat crews pushing their limits in solid wind and relatively flat water. This might just be the fastest Melges 24 Speed Challenge ever.” - Alec Stewart, President and Founder, Velocitek.

The Velocitek Speed Challenge will take place on May 20th, between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. During this time, sailors will have the opportunity to sail as much as they like in their efforts to record a winning speed. Top speeds for the event can be recorded using any Velocitek GPS device.
