Trogir Outdoor Festival CRO Melges 24 Cup: Mataran 24 Claims Victory on Home Turf
Trogir, Croatia - 6 May 2024 - Mataran 24 emerged victorious at the Trogir Outdoor Festival CRO Melges 24 Cup, marking the opening weekend of this year's festival edition in the city of masters. The final regatta of the first part of the season of Croatia's most prestigious sailing competition, organized by the Trogir Sailing Club, saw 20 crews from three countries (Croatia, Czech Republic, and Poland) participate in a full program of six races.
The home team, Mataran 24 of Ivo Matic with Ante Botica steering, had a fantastic weekend, celebrating their victory in an exciting regatta finale ahead of Universitas Nova - Barba Zlatan of Ivan Kljakovic-Gaspic and Panjić of Luka Sangulin. This was their second victory this year in the CRO Melges 24 Cup after their triumph at the season opener in Biograd.
"Winning on home turf is both the most difficult and the sweetest. With all the challenges and logistical demands that come with organizing a regatta, our celebration under Kamerlengo was the icing on the cake of a brilliant sailing weekend," emphasized Mataran 24 member Ivo Matić.
The first part of the season in the CRO Melges 24 Cup has concluded, but the excitement is far from over. Before the autumn thrills and the European Championship in Split, Mataran 24 is eagerly heading to San Francisco to defend their World title in the Corinthian division, a challenge they are eagerly anticipating.
"The project is in the finalization phase. We have found a boat in the USA that we will rent for the Worlds. We are traveling to America in mid-August and hope for good results," announced Ivo Matić.
In the Corinthian division of the Trogir Outdoor Festival CRO Melges 24 Cup, Little A's crew took the first victory ahead of Sugar Daddy and Tutta Forza.
