Three New Melges 24 Fleets in California

6 April 2011 – San Diego, California – Following on the success of the Melges California Cup (http://www.california-cup.com), we are pleased to announce the formation of three new Melges 24 fleets on the West Coast of the United States: San Diego, Santa Barbara, and Lake Tahoe.

“These are some of the finest sailing destinations in the United States,” remarked Christopher Farkas, San Francisco Melges 24 Fleet Captain and International Executive Committee Member, “the creation of these fleets is a credit to the grass-roots efforts of the sailors in each city and should help serve as a catalyst for future growth across California.”

“We look forward to inviting sailors to our shores from across the nation and abroad to the Pacific Coast Championship this year, the North American Championship next, and the Melges 24 World Championship in 2013 – a week after the America’s Cup Final,” said Andre Peixoto, San Francisco Melges 24 Fleet Treasurer and US Class Secretary.
