Save the dates for the 2021-2022 Bacardi Winter Series & Invitational Cup

September 19, 2021 - Miami, U.S. - The Bacardi Winter Series, Bacardi Cup and Bacardi Invitational Regatta are once again returning to Miami, USA, for the 2021-2022 racing season.

The 2021-2022 season opener is Bacardi Winter Series Event 1, featuring racing for the J/70 and Melges 24 fleets from 18-19 December 2021, followed just over a month later by Bacardi Winter Series Event 2 from 28-30 January 2022. Competition will be fierce as teams make their assault on the leader board, ahead of the series finale at the Bacardi Cup Invitational Regatta from 9-12 March 2022. Joining the Star, J70 and Melges 24 classes at the Bacardi Cup Invitational Regatta in March are the Viper 640s and VX Ones, with a nine race series over three days for all fleets.

Celebrating ninety-five years of excellence in 2022, the iconic 95th Bacardi Cup takes centre stage at the Bacardi Invitational Regatta from 6-12 March. The Bacardi Cup’s worldwide reputation will again attract a star-studded line-up of sailing’s heroes in an event where Olympic medallists, America’s Cup winners and World Champions mix it up on the race track alongside Star Class enthusiasts. The battle for victory will unfold in the traditional format of one daily endurance race over 6 days of competition, kicking off on 7 March 2022.

“The Bacardi Regattas redefine sailing events,” commented Sara Zanobini, Event Director. “Sailors are at the heart of our events, creating a spectacular celebration of global talent who year on year enjoy an extraordinary time in Miami, whether legends of the sport or first timers at our events. We are exceptionally proud to welcome sailors from all over the world who come to Miami to soak up the unique atmosphere.”

Miami is simply one of the best places to sail in the winter and is one of the world’s most demanding race tracks. Biscayne Bay is stunning, the racing is incredible, the host clubs are prestigious yet offer a home from home and sailors enjoy a festival atmosphere – there is no better place to be. As always, Bacardi will again deliver its renowned event bonhomie, with nightly parties, great food, live music and cocktails.

As 2021 Bacardi Cup winner Mateusz Kusnierewicz (POL) reflected, “The Bacardi Cup’s legacy, history, people, great organization and place makes it very special. Only to be part of it, to participate, makes me feel special.

“It’s a tradition. It’s a magic place. It’s a perfect time of the year. It’s great people. It’s this magic taste and feeling you have. Once you taste it, you want it again!”
