Santa Barbara Melges Race Week - NOR Now Available!

Santa Barbara Yacht Club invites the Melges 24 Class to the inaugural Santa Barbara Melges Race Week. This exclusive, single class regatta will kick off the California Cup for 2011. The event will feature three days of racing and fun in the open ocean. The local fleet is excited to host California Cup racers both on and off the water. For visiting boats, Santa Barbara’s Central California location provides easy access from anywhere between San Diego and San Francisco.

Santa Barbara Channel offers 50 miles of unparalleled scenery. It is bordered by the Channel Islands National Park to the south and the “American Riviera” to the north. In March, the venue provides a variety of wind conditions and an average temperature near 70 degrees. The City of Santa Barbara is one of Southern California’s top family vacation destinations, and offers a wide range of options for racers and their “shore crew”.

One of the oldest clubs on the West Coast, Santa Barbara Yacht Club has served racing sailors since 1872. Its current location overlooks the mountains, beaches, and harbor of Santa Barbara. The Club supports a wide range of one-design, dinghy, and rating rule classes for all ages. The members welcome regatta participants to enjoy SBYC, the City, and the excellent sailing conditions of Santa Barbara. www.sbyc.org
