McKenzie Wins Tight Match-Up At Southeast Inland Champs

10 April 2024 - The Southeast Inland Championship, hosted by the Lake Lanier Sailing Club was a great success this past weekend on April 6-7, with 15 boats raced. This was the third regatta in our North American Sailing Series. Six out-of-town teams and nine locals completed on Lake Lanier under super conditions.

Saturday witnessed a display of intense competition after a brief delay to allow the wind to pick up. Three races were fiercely contested in 8-12 knots of breeze. Steve Boho’s The 300 emerged as the frontrunner with an impressive 6,1,1 score, closely followed by Corinthian Brent McKenzie’s EX-KAHN, showcasing the high skill level of our participants.

On Sunday, the local sailors caught up in the last two races, again in great breeze. McKenzie just beat out Boho in the tiebreaker to take first place, Boho finished second, with Will Morang’s Rapscallion in third.

Thanks to all the participants who traveled from near and far, and most especially, a big thanks to a great RC team headed up by Ted McKee! It was a super fun event and high-quality racing.

The next stop is Charleston for the fourth North American Sailing Series, where 15 teams are signed up. View the Entry List here: https://yachtscoring.com/emenu.cfm?eID=16304.
