Gulari Wins 2021 U.S. Melges 24 National Ranking Series, Pirie Crowned Corinthian Champion

December 15, 2021 - USA -  2021 has been nothing but a vast improvement in racing opportunities for the U.S. Melges 24 fleet. Ten events were on the calendar, eight were completed with a total of 73 teams competing.

Bora Gulari at the helm of New England Ropes is the overall 2021 USM24CA National Ranking Champion, followed closely by Laura Grondin’s Dark Energy in second place. KC Shannon’s Shaka placed third, eight-time National Champion Brian Porter on Full Throttle finished the season in 4th. Bruce Ayres and his Monsoon team rounded out the top five.

In the hotly contested Corinthian division, the Midwest’s Steve Pirie at the helm of RUMbuncious captured the top Corinthian trophy. Atlanta, Georgia’s Tony Stanley on Hermes came second, and 2021 Charleston champ Kevin Shockey on Wombmates Racing finished out the podium placements.

Major recognition goes out to KC Shannon, Scot Zimmerman’s Bad Idea, Tony Stanley and Steve Suddath’s 3 1/2 Men as they are the top teams the completed the most events over the course of the season.
