Porto Cervo, 2 June 2008 - There was no racing today at the Volvo Melges 24 World Championship hosted by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda in Porto Cervo.
For those of you who speak German IMCA Chairman and German Class Secretary Guenter Tzeschlock is providing a daily blog from the Volvo Melges 24 World Championships in Porto Cervo.
Its 1515 and the Race Committee just posted AP over N indicating no more racing today. We'll have a daily report for you shortly but that's it for now.
For an insiders view on exactly what happened on the race course yesterday check out the report from Justin Chisholm who gives us the lowdown on what it was really like to be out in a Melges 24 in yesterday's very difficult conditions.Read his report at www.offshorerules.co.uk
Its 1425 and the Race Committee has decided to send the fleets from both courses back ashore to await further instructions. There's still no wind in the race area and with a hot sun beating down it was felt safest to get the crews back to harbour before sunstroke and dehydration started to set in.
IMCA Official Photographer Paul Todd has now updated his own web site with images from the Pre-Worlds and day one of the Volvo Melges 24 World Championship. To view the images please visit www.outsideimages.co.nz.
