The opening day of the Melges 24 Europeans in Torbole produced two fantastic races in near perfect sailing conditions and glorious sunshine. Race one started in around 8 knots with the right hand side of the course paying up the first beat.
The town of Torbole welcomed the Melges 24 fleets to their 2001 European Championship in a moving ceremony held at the Town Quay this evening.
On the eve of the Melges 24 European Championship, the final event in the 2001 European Ranking Series, just 10 points separate the top 13 boats.
With around half of the entrants measured in so far registration is going well at the Europeans in Torbole. One minor problem which has been identified is that a number of competitors have installed the proposed new mainsail halyard tensioning system.
