The top US Melges 24 teams are joined on San Francisco Bay this weekend by visitors from Switzerland/Italy, Australia, Ireland, Canada and the UK for the2012 Melges 24 North American Championship, taking place from 23-26 August.

The famous windmachine on Lake Lucerne in Central Switzerland did not work very well for the Swiss Open Championships last weekend, as it was simply too hot with temperatures far over 30 degrees celcius even in the mountains.
During the past weekend the first official Melges 24 Danish Championship took place in Hellerup near Copenhagen. The event had participation of 28 boats covering most of Denmark as well as participants from Norway, Sweden and Germany.
There's still time to enter the 2012 Melges 24 North American Championship being hosted by San Francisco Yacht Club from 22-26 August and the good news is that the club has generously waived the late entry fee.
