Accru Apply Pressure On Day 2 Of The Australian Melges 24 National Championship

Day two and crews were notified that the race area had changed to Course D outside Corio Bay, an hour out through the shipping channel. The first race of the day was abandoned after the wind died completely an hour and a half into racing on the second lap, Bandit leading. The race that followed was a fight to the finish in light breeze between Sydney harbour training partners,  Kevin Nixon’s  Accru finishing one second in front of Warwick Rooklyn's Bandit, Heath Walters Arriba Arriba third.

Warwick Rooklyn Leads Australian Melges 24 Nationals After Day 1

The Festival of Sails and Corio Bay served up great conditions for day one of the 2012 Melges 24 Australian Championships; sunshine, up to 20 knots of wind and dolphins.  Sponsored by Parks Victoria, the supportboat that normally patrols the bay crewed by Graeme Willson and Paddy Hernon couldn’t have been more accommodating.

Aarhus Melges 24 Spring Cup Dates Confirmed

The first ever "Aarhus Melges 24 Spring Cup 2012" – will be hosted by Aarhus Sailing Club in conjunction with Sailing Aarhus.

The cup consists of two seperate events held in the same place - Århus, Denmark. Well known to all Melges24 sailor from "Böklunder Melges 24 European Championship 2011" -- www.melges24.com/node/5515 

Melges 24s Converge On Geelong For Australian Championship

The Melges 24 fleet are descending on Geelong from all over Australia to compete in the Melges 24 Australian Championships from the 26 – 29 January at the Festival of Sails. 

This will be the largest fleet of Melges 24’s at a National Championships to date. Competitors are fired up and eager to take out the illusive title. Several new owners have joined the class and are discovering the great camaraderie in the competitive fleet.

Ukraine To Host First Melges 24 Events

The newly formed Ukrainian Melges 24 Class has announced the dates for its first Melges 24 Regattas and invites all Melges 24 teams to join them for these exciting inaugural events which will be held at the Ushakova Balka Yacht Club in Sevastopol on the Black Sea coast of the Crimean peninsular.

The Ukraine Independence Day Regatta will be held from 23-26 August and the Ukrainian Association Cup will be held from 13-16 September 2012.  At that time of year Sevastopol enjoys warm sunny days and balmy evenings and competitors can expect great racing on the Black Sea.
