Christen Horn Johannessen Wins Swedish Open Championship 2012

Congratulations to Norway's Christen Horn Johannessen and his team aboard NOR400 on their victory at the 2012 Swedish Open Melges 24 Championship held at Stenungsund, Sweden on the weekend of 12-13 May.  With twenty-five teams from Sweden, Norway and Denmark competing, the event was further evidence of the fantastic growth of interest in the Melges 24 currently being seen across the Baltic region.

Switzerland's Jorg Holz Wins Melges 24 Volvo Cup Lerici

With 36 boats from 9 nations the second leg of the 2012 Melges 24 Volvo Cup, held in Lerici, proved to be as challenging as ever.  The skies were sunny and the temperature was up at 27° C but sadly the wind was very weak and as a result only three very light and shifty races could be completed.  This was particularly frustrating for the sailors and in the days before the regatta as everone was preparing the wind was blowing at 20-30 knots.

Gulari Is Golden In Charleston

The 2012 Melges 24 Gold Cup at Charleston Race Week was the third major event for Bora Gulari's West Marine Rigging/New England Ropes since last October, and it marked his third straight victory in a major Class championship.

Full Results From Aarhus Melges 24 Spring Cup

The full results for the 2012 Aarhus Melges 24 Spring Cup Series, which took place over two weekends, have now been published.  Congratulations to Norway's Peder Nergaard and his team aboard NOR600 Blow who claimed overall victory from Denmark's Kris Houmann sailing DEN612 Melges.dk in second and  Rene Schmidt, also from Denmark, sailing DEN782 Softice in third.

Huge thanks to the team at Aarhus Sailing Club for running such a fantastic event which attracted a total of eighteen boats for the nineteen race series.
