The dates for the 2014 Melges 24 European Sailing Series have been confirmed. Responding to the fantastic reception that last year's series received, the 2014 programme will once again feature five regattas across Europe. The programme has been designed to ensure ease of logistics for the competitors and top quality racing at outstanding venues. The jewel in the crown will be the Melges 24 European Championship on Lake Balaton in May. The full programme is
The initial entry deadline for the Gill Melges 24 World Championship, taking place in Geelong from 27 January to 2 February, is Saturday 30 November so if you plan to enter and want to take advantage of the early entry discount take action now and make your entry at the event website. Competitors who have already made their entry but not yet paid their entry fee are reminded that the need to make their payments before the end of this week to avoid paying the 50% late entry fee.
In the first week since the entry system opened for the 2014 Melges 24 World Championship 22 teams from 8 nations and 4 continents have already confirmed their attendance! The overseas entries to date include Bruce Ayres from California, Flavio Favini and the Blu Moon crew from Switzerland, Tetsuya Matsunaga and the ThreeBond team from Japan, Andrea Racchelli and Riccardo Simoneschi from Italy, Germany's Bent Dietrich, Canada's Zarko Draganic and Thomas Hacklin from Finland.
No T-Shirt, no shorts – but this time Snow..! The last Act of the Italian Circuit 2014 was some kind of different of what the Melges 24 community knows from sailing in Italy. But: The beautiful Lago Maggiore in Front of lovely Lunio offered though once more best ever conditions for sailing and lots of action on the water.
