Day 3 - Melges 24 Europeans 2016

September 7, 2016 - Hyères, France - An Easterly breeze blowing around 18 knots, much stronger than forecasted, has characterized the third day of racing here in Hyères. The crews have been facing challenging conditions in terms of wind and waves, in the day that represented the turning mark of this Marinepool Melges 24 European Championship 2016 hosted by COYCH in cooperation with the International Melges 24 Class Association (IM24CA) and French Melges 24 Class Association.

September 5, 2016 – Hyères, France - As exactly announced by the weather forecasts earlier, a wind of Mistral was blowing strongly, to start the Melges 24 European Championship, hosted by COYCH and the International Melges 24 Class Association with the support of Marinepool, in the best possible way.


September 6, 2016 - Hyères, France - The second racing day of the Marinepool Melges 24 European Championship 2016 was concluded, here in Hyères, under the sign of an Easterly moderate breeze that took the crews out of COYCH this morning blowing around 15 knots and progressively decreasing to less than 10 knots during the last legs of the sixth race, that was the third and last race sailed today.

September 4, 2016 – Hyères, France - Everything is ready in Hyeres where the International Melges 24 fleet will sail for the third time since 2006. 54 Melges 24 boats coming from 16 nations have all reached their moorings on the docks and, after today’s practice race are ready for the first preparatory signal tomorrow.

September 2, 2016 - Lake Geneva, WI - Teams are coming from as far as Sydney Australia to celebrate Buddy Melges' 86th year on Lake Geneva, the birthplace of the MELGES24. "We want to put our boat in the fabled lake that made so many champions. Maybe some of it will rub off on our team." says 2014 Nationals Corinthian Champion, Kevin Nixon steering for the family team on Accru of Sydney, Australia.

September 2nd 2016 - Hyères, France - Ten years after the Melges 24 Worlds were won by Nico Celon's Bete Bossini, and just five years after the European success was grabbed by Lorenzo Santini's Uka Uka Racing, the International Melges 24 Class Association is ready to return to Hyères to discover the name of the new European Champion.

August 25, 2016 - Tallinn, Estonia - Over the weekend on August 19-21, when Estonia was celebrating its 25 years of restoration of independence, Melges 24 Estonian champion was found out during three racing days on the venue of 2010 Marinepool Melges 24 Worlds - Kalev Yacht Club in Tallinn. With famous blue-black-white kite Tõnu Tõniste's team on Lenny EST790 did not let chances for others - in all 8 races sailed the boat with a tricolor kite was the first to cross the finishing line. Congratulations to the reigning Melges 24 Corinthian European and World Champion!

August 24, 2016 - Toronto, Ontario - The Canadian Melges 24 Class Association is happy to announce the details of the 2017 Melges 24 Canadian National Championship.  This high level event will be hosted by the National Yacht Club in Toronto, Ontario September 22nd – 24th, 2017.  The location and dates were carefully chosen to provide the best racing conditions possible, while avoiding conflicting regattas.

August 24, 2016 - Skive, Denmark - 23 boats from 4 nations (Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Germany) competed in the Open Danish Championships that took place in Skive, mid Jutland August 19-21. The event was hosted by Skive Yachtclub in cooperation with Maritim Center Skive, who managed to run an event that worked well both on the water and socially.
