Thirty-three Melges 24 Teams Take On Sperry Top-Sider Charleston Race Week, 2012 Gold Cup Championship

In 2012, the U.S. Melges 24 Class celebrates another Gold Cup Championship, this time held in conjunction with Sperry Top-Sider Charleston Race Week. More than thirty teams from across the U.S.A. and around the world will be on the line for Friday’s start of the three-day affair, eighteen of which have qualified to play as Corinthians in the famed all-amateur division.

Defending 2012 champion Kristen Lane on Brickhouse 812 is back and ready to capture a second title. It will not be an easy task as she will have the fend off the likes of 2012 Key West Race Week Champion Bora Gulari aboard West Marine Rigging | New England Ropes and 2010 North American Champion Alan Field on WTF.
