Norwegian Nationals - Preview

The Norwegian Nationals are scheduled for 30th of August to 2nd of September and the entries are close to 40 boats from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany and Estonia. This keelboat championship will be the biggest I Norway this season.  

Fredrikstad Yacht Club in association with Hankø Yacht Club will run the event. The course will be filled with two classes Melges 24 and Formula 18. The competitors can look forward to three days of intents racing. The race officer hopes to get in as many as 10 races in this championship.

The three times Corinthian World Champion NOR751 Storm Capitol Racing, with Peder Jahre on the tiller, will aim for gold on a course that the team has been successful on before. Last year’s winner NOR697 Oslo Flaggfabrikk, with Christoffer Sundby will be back to defend the title. Other contenders for podium places will be Herman Horn Johannessen on NOR732 Rett Rundt Hjørnet, Kristoffer Spone on NOR400. Peder (NOR787) and Kristian Nergaard (NOR600) is also a force to be reckoned with at Hankø.

The Internationals contingent will consist of boats from Sweden (452,536,554,666) Denmark (612,664,779), Germany (266) and Estonia (826). DEN612 with Kris Houman came 4th DEN779 Peter Warrer 7th and in the 28 boat strong field in the Danish Open at Hellerup last weekend. The longest journey to the Norwegian championship will be Ants Haavel from Estonia. The team finished 39th in the World Championship in Garda just recently. We especially welcome him back this year, because he and his team competed in the 2011 championship to, They finished 10 with his boat Freddy which is the news boat in the fleet.

Thursday 30. August:

Registration and craning: 18.00 – 21.00 hrs at Andersen Slippen

Friday 31. August:

Registration and craning: 10.00 – 13.00 hrs at Andersen Slippen
First start 15.00 hrs – course around 30-40 mins from harbour
3 races planned – about 45-60 mins long
After sail with food and drinks at Hankø Yacht Club
Regatta office: Hankø Yacht Club where all boats can stay
Debrief and clinic with Worlds Bronze winner 2012 – Riccardo Simoneschi – Hankø Yacht Club

Saturday 1. September:

First start 11.00 hrs - course around 30-40 mins from harbour
4 races planned – about 45-60 mins long
After sail with food and drinks at Hankø Yacht Club
Regatta office: Hankø Yacht Club
Norwegian AGM around 19.00 hrs (or one hour before dinner)
Regatta Dinner

Sunday 2. September:

First start 11.00 hrs - course around 30-40 mins from harbour
3 races planned - about 45-60 mins long
Last start 15.00 hrs
Craning at Andersen Slippen – crane list will be presented at the latest Saturday

Price Giving – 1/3 of the class (35/3) and for U25 (boats with an average age under 25 and no one over 30 onboard.

Andersen Slippen will be divided in 2 areas - one for Melges 24 and one for Formula 18. Please follow instructions from the harbourmaster.

Trailers should be parked according to crane list - if you are travelling long - you will park it at the lower area. If you are staying for Autumn Cups or only travelling to Oslo, it shall be transported to an area 200 meters south of the club.

Cars shall be parked at designated area as soon as you arrive.

Social programme:
To participate in the three social events – the price is 550 NOK per person, to be paid at Hankø Yacht Club. This includes:
Two aftersail meals and two Coronas (or min water)
Regatta Dinner
