Magic Marine To Sponsor Melges 24 European Championship 2013 Lizard Footwear Confirmed As Official Footwear Supplier
Magic Marine originated as a specialist in technical clothing for catamaran and dinghy sailors and in the first case with harnesses. In recent years a Sportsboat/Coastal Collection launched with a boat specific "Protector Series" that rapidly became a firm favorite for Melges 24 sailors around the globe. In addition to the partnership with ISAF Connect To Sailing and the Dutch Sailing Federation, this new agreement extends Magic Marine's support of sailing around the globe.

Also supporting the event as Official Footwear Supplier will be Lizard Footwear whose Italian made sporting and leisure footwear is world renowned for both it's quality and technical superiority. It's extensive range of sailing footwear ideally meets the very demanding needs of Melges 24 sailors.
Other sponsors already confirmed for the 2013 Magic Marine Melges 24 European Championship include North Sails One Design, who will support the event as a Day Sponsor, and Supporting Sponsors De Pooter Olie, a Dutch owned fuel distribution company, and AEZ Leichtmetallräder, producer of high quality wheels for the motor industry.
Some 80 teams are expected to race in the championship which will be Europe's biggest Melges 24 regatta of the season. As always the entry list will include a host of Olympic, America's Cup, World and Continental Champions from around the globe. Heading up the list of those bidding to claim the top step on the podium are reigning Melges 24 World and European Ranking Champion Riccardo Simoneschi. Reigning Corinthian, all amateur, European Champion Tonu Toniste of Estonia will be back to defend his title while Ian Schillebeeckx and his team are making the trip from the USA to compete. Already teams from Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Lichtenstein, the Netherlands, Norway, Slovenia, Switzerland, Sweden and the Ukraine are signed up with more than a month still to go until the entry deadline.
The regatta will be based at the purpose built Regatta Centre Medemblik with racing managed by the Royal Yacht Club Hollandia and the IMCA's Hank Stuart presiding as Principal Race Officer. The regatta opens with registration from 15 to 17 August, there will be practice racing on 17 August and championship racing will run from 18 to 22 August.
