Gulari Dominating Key West

hree additional races were added to the scoreboard on Tuesday at Quantum Key West 2012, with Bora Gulari's West Marine Rigging/New England Ropes dominating the fleet. An impressive string of first place finishes has him seated in first overall. Alan Field on WTF is Gulari's next closest competition in second overall, some ten points behind. 2001 Melges 24 World Champion Flavio Favini at the helm of Franco Rossini's Blu Moon is third.

Weatherwise, it was another beautiful day in paradise with plentiful sunshine and just the right amount of breeze to launch off three great races. With Gulari firmly in the lead, the battle for the remaining top five positions is heated. Field, Favini, Bruce Ayres' Monsoon and Don Wilson's Convexity are determined to keep mixing it up.

Wednesday marks the mid-term for the Key West Championship title. Winds are expected to be light, the sunshine plentiful and temperatures near 80 degrees. Should a sixth race take place, discards go into effect.

Each day, postings will be made available on usmelges24.com and regular shorts will be made at the U.S. Melges 24 Facebook Page from the course.
