Thank you, Egidio Babbi! Welcome, Antonio Cardona!

August 17, 2016 - IM24CA - After the retirement of Egidio Babbi, current Chief International Measurer & Technical Advisor of the International Melges 24 Class Association, IM24CA has been looking for a good successor to step into the Egidio's big shoes. It took a while, but with help of people close to the class and World Sailing the proposal of IM24CA was accepted by Antonio Cardona Espin (ESP) - International World Sailing Measurer.

After all those years Egidio Babbi will leave behind huge boots that are not so easy to fill. With a strong recommendation from ISAF/World Sailing we are sure that Antonio will be great in this post. Antonio is from Spain. He is a Sailing Instructor 2nd Level R.F.E.V., International ISAF Measurer; has been Star Class Chief Measurer 1998-2007, Dragon Class Chief Measurer 2000-2010, is ORC IM Measurer, National Jury and National Race Officer. He was the member of the Barcelona 92 Olympics for the Star Class, and is still involved with the class.

Antonio lives in Palma de Mallorca and is involved in the organization of Copa del Rey and Trofeo S.A.R. Princesa Sofia, but his real job is to be a Hotel Manager.
Please find the list of his experience from his CV here. He will be responsible for the measurement process in the Marinepool Melges 24 European Championship 2016 in Hyeres.

The International Melges 24 Class Association has been very lucky and happy to have an officer like Egidio Babbi to work for the class!! For those who do not know, before starting as a Chief Measurer for the class, Egidio was a very active and successful Melges 24 sailor winning Corinthian World Champion title in San Francisco 2003. Grazie mille, Egi! Both Melges 24 sailors and the IM24CA are extremely grateful to egidio for the huge job he has done during all those years and looking forward to work with Antonio to support the Melges 24 class to be the best one design sportsboat class in the world.
