Team Storm Capital Sail Racing with Peder Jahre in helm wins Hankø Race Week 2014 in Norway

The yearly regatta, Hankø Race Week (June 26th – June 29th) is over for this now, and the Royal Norwegian Yacht Club did not fail to impress, both on and off shore. There were 20 participating boats, where 3 of them came all the way from Sweden and Germany.

What is great about Hankø, is not only the excellent sailing conditions, but also the great social setting during the evenings. The Nergaard brothers (who each sail a Melges 24), arrange a Cocktail Party, which seems to have become a yearly tradition. This year the X-41 fleet were also invited, and it ended up being a great evening for both them, and the Melges 24 fleet.

Day 1 started out with little wind, but after a while, the winds found their way from south-southwest, and we managed to pull off one regatta. NOR 600, “Baghdad 1”, with Kristian Nergaard, took 1st place, and with that, also the lead.

The winds seemed to last all the way through day 2, where 3 regattas were sailed. NOR 751, “Storm Capital Racing”, with Peder Jahre showed everyone who’s the boss, and took the overall lead placing, 1st, 1st, and 5th on day 2.

On day 3, the winds turned 180 degrees, blowing 5-6 m/s from northeast. 3 regattas were sailed, where NOR 400, “Baghdad 2”, with Kristoffer Spone won one regatta, and “Baghdad 1” and “Storm Capital Sail Racing” won the two other.

Day 4, Sunday, gave us 7 m/s of wind, blowing from north-northeast. 2 regattas were sailed, where “Baghdad 1” and “Baghdad 2” won one each.

In total, none other than “Storm Capital Sail Racing”, took 1st place with 20 points. Following them were “Baghdad 1” with 28 points in 2nd, and NOR 732, “Rett Rundt Hjørnet”, with Herman Horn-Johannesen in 3rd.
