Melges 24 Worlds 2015 Middelfart - Pierrick Contin

October 7, 2015 - Luino, Italy – The final act of the Audi tron Sailing Series and the Melges 24 European Sailing Series, event organised by B.Plan Sport&Events in collaboration with Melges Europe and International Melges 24 Class Association will be taking place in Luino this weekend where the Melges 24 fleet will be competing the Coppa Lino Favini, which is considered also Melges 24 Swiss Open Championship 2015, hosted by the Associazione Velica Alto Verbano.

The Balatonfüred Yacht Club and MVM SE in co-operation hosted Granini-Groupama Melges 24 Open Hungarian Championship on September 24-27. Seven local teams were competing for the title and the champion was found out after seven races completed in very tricky conditions through the weekend.

EGM 2015

September 25, 2015 - Although the AGM 2015 process is well underway the Executive Committee of the International Melges 24 Class Association has decided to call for the Extraordinary General Meeting. The EGM will be held according to the IMCA constitution on Friday the 6th of November 2015.

Chile Melges 24 ranking regatta

September 23, 2015 - Lake Rapel, Chile - With very low winds that didn´t go up from 5 knots, the Chilean Melges Class started our Ranking Series Regattas last weekend.  In these conditions no more than three races were completed on Rapel Lake.

Team Obsession with Jose Niguel Rubio in helm was the winner of the regatta with the series of 1-3-3 and is the leader of the 2015-2016 Chilean Ranking Series.  Second was last year's champion Pablo Gallyas' Magic Marine and third Fernando Concha's Conejo Racing.

September 23, 2015 - Koivusaari, Helsinki, Finland - 2015 Melges 24 Finnish Open and Nordic Championships were held in club NJK (Nyländska Jaktklubben) in Helsinki, Finland on September 18-20. It was a great weekend with 8 races completed in pretty hard and changing conditions. 2015 Melges 24 Corinthian World Champion - Lenny EST790 with Tõnu Tõniste in helm and Toomas Tõniste, Andres Rohtla, Kalev Kaal and Maiki Saaring in crew won the championship in style with a race to spare and Pohjola Trophy was brought to Estonia, Kalev Yacht Club.

September 22, 2015 - Oyster Bay, NY, USA - Oakcliff Melges 24 Regatta – October in Oyster Bay should be a great time to sail Melges 24. We can expect big Fall wind and the water is still warm. For those who want a regatta party Oyster Fest is right around the corner in Oyster Bay. Launching at Sewanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club we will be sailing right around the corner in Cold Spring Harbor with plenty of runway to make the windward / leeward courses exciting. Regatta will be held on October 17-18, in Oakcliff Sailing.

Melges 24 European Sailing Series 2015: Gill Race Team and Marusia retain lead

September 22, 2015 - Melges 24 class in Europe is about to end its 2015 season soon. Busy season of the Melges 24 European Sailing Series 2015 has included five events so far and the current standings of the series with 42 races counted including 7 discards have been published.

Joe Woods

The Royal Torbay Yacht Club in Devon, England, is mourning the unexpected loss of one of its staunchest and most generous members. Joe Woods, who was also one of the club’s most successful international sailors, died on Friday 18th September after a very brief illness.

Joe will be remembered by the international sailing community for his string of successful campaigns in the Melges and Farr fleets. His series of boats mostly under the “Red” banner ranged through Melges 24 and 32, followed by the Farr 400 and 280.

Rolex Big Boat Series 2015 - Kurt Arrigo

September 17-20, 2015 – San Francisco, US – Rolex Big Boat Series - the regatta, one of many in Rolex’s international portfolio of sailing events, was hosted on September 17-20 by St. Francis Yacht Club. In Melges 24 class among nine teams Doug Wilhelm’s WILCO dominated the event since the beginning and won with a finishes of 2-1-1-1-5.
