Doyle Sails Finland To Support Nordic Melges 24 Trophy For Three Years
The International Melges 24 Class Association in co-operation with the Nordic Melges 24 Class Associations (Finland, Estonia, Sweden, Denmark and Norway) are proud to announce a unique three year deal with Doyle Sails Finland for the Nordic Melges 24 Trophy.
Nordic Trophy was created for the Nordic Melges 24 countries to have a high entry level and quality event series in places that are attractable. The first season was sailed in 2013. The official was founded back then and by Floda Systemskylt AB.
Matt Hodgson, Loft Manager of Doyle Sails Finland is thrilled: “We have been following the Melges 24 for years and this superb one-design boat is really one of it´s own. When Denmark gained the 2015 Worlds it was a fantastic chance for Nordic sailors to get involved in the class and once Finland was granted the 2017 Worlds, it was really easy to make a decision and get behind the competition. We're working very hard here in Finland to develop our sails and help our customers sail faster round the track. It's our goal to become one of the top lofts in this highly competitive class and we look forward to have the chance to be be title sponsor to this great series."
Tomi Hakola, Secretary / Treasurer of the International Melges 24 Class Association continues: “On behalf of the class and the Nordic national classes I´m really happy of getting this huge opportunity to work with a new sail loft. Utilising the Nordic Trophy and some of the top boats as a marketing + R&D platform will be definitely really interesting to follow. At the present moment the Melges 24 class is again picking up it´s pace in the the Nordic region but not forgetting the rest of Europe, Asia Pacific, USA, Canada and especially having already 20 boats in Chile. The 2015 Worlds in Middelfart Denmark with 100+ boats and the 2017 Worlds in Helsinki Finland will be really big events to show off. Now that we have 80+ actively sailing Melges 24 boats in the 5 Nordic countries I´m just waiting to get over 100+ boats in the next couple of years!”
