Almost 40 Melges 24 Boats Were In Action Around Europe Last Weekend

As the summer is getting more up to speed a lot more will start to happen. Melges 24 boats were competing in various regattas around Europe during the weekend of June 6-9.

NORWAY 
On June 7-8 the Aker Brygge Cup was held in Oslo hosted by the Royal Norwegian Yacht Club. There was 7 Melges 24 boats competing during two days racing among other boats participating this regatta. Storm Capital Sail Racing (NOR 751) with Stian Briseid in helm claimed the victory in style – with the series of 1-1-1-2 and total sum of 5 points they were ahead of the next boat with 8 points.

GERMANY
June 8 Bavarian Open 2014 was held in Chiemsee Yacht Club. 3 races were completed during one sunny day with light winds at Chiemsee.  Nine boats from Austria, Switzerland and Germany showed up at the starting line. One race was started on Saturday, but was postponed due to the dying wind. The official dinner on Saturday evening was amazing and was fore sure worth to come to the CYC.  Sunday morning, again no wind and the sailors had to wait until mid afternoon.  A light wind builded up and three races were completed. The same wind situation on Sunday with no races. Swiss boat Poizon Rouge (SUI 599) with Adrian Huber crew  was victorious with the series of 1-1-4 and total 6 points followed by Austrian boat (AUT 716)  helmed by Michael Schineis as the second and Markus Reger team (GER 543) as the third.

FSC Pfingst Cup took place in Glücksburg on June 7-9. Thirteen Melges 24 boats from Germany and Denmark have sailed 7 races and with one discard the best series with total sum of 17 points made Nils Hollenbeck (GER 355) with his team. The second was Jesper Bendix (DEN 808)  team with equal 20 points for the Markus Scheel team (GER 690) as the third.

NETHERLAND 
Seven Melges 24 - 6 from the Netherland and one from the Switzerland - were racing at the Delta Lloyd North Sea Regatta. After 10 races completed and with 2 discards the best result was made by Irena Doets (NED 645) with 16 points in total. 4 points behind was Team SIKA/Kesbeke/GILL (NED 827) with Roland Veraar in helm. Gelikt (NED 789) helmed by Carlo Vroon was the third, 7 points behind.
