2015 Melges 24 World Championship Reaches To 50 Entries

Melges 24 World Championship 2015 will take place on June 30 until July 5, hosted by Match Racing Denmark in co-operation with the Danish Melges 24 Class Association and IMCA in Middelfart, Denmark.

Already forty-seven teams from ten countries have registered to race while there are 256 days to go – 14 boats from the hosting country, 13 boats from Norway, 6 boats from Sweden, 5 boats from Germany, 2 boats from Estonia, Finland and Switzerland and with one boat are represented Great Britain, the Netherlands and US so far.

And there are Big Names on the list already! To name only few - 2014 World and European Champion, Franco Rossini’s Blu Moon with Flavio Favini’s team from Switzerland; 2014 Corinthian European Champion, Tõnu Tõniste’s team on Lenny from Estonia; 2012 Corinthian World Champion, Peder Oyvind Jahre’s team Storm Capital Sail Racing from Norway and from far overseas Brucey Ayres’ Monsoon from US, 2009 Corinthian World Champion.

Melges 24 Danish fleet and Match Racing Denmark are happy to welcome everyone to this event to be held in the middle of Denmark on the island of Funen. Besides superb racing area you can enjoy staying also in real castle, where the number of social events, including the opening ceremony will be held. Hindsgavl Castle is famous for its unique combination of being a classical castle and a modern hotel and will be converted to the clubhouse for the sailors during the World Championship. A special "Melges-24-Worlds-2015-Package" is available for the crews, their families, and officials while staying in Middelfart. To get you the best deal, the organizers have been negotiating event prices with three hotels, which you’ll find at the event’s website.
